PCOS Symptoms & Treatment
The Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS is one of the most common reasons for women infertility. Women who have PCOS encompass large production of follicles from the ovary that cause high levels of estrogen every month but without releasing any mature egg. In this case, women have fluid-filled sacs or cyst in their ovaries that hinders the ovary to perform normally. When this happen, the excessive estrogen arouses the uterine lining and release blood that appears like a menstruation but is actually not since no ovulation has taken place yet. One should note that the bleeding cause by PCOS is irregular and infrequent.
PCOS which is sometimes referred to as Stein-Leventhal Syndrome affects one in every ten woman in a society or 5% of all women in all races and nationalities. It usually starts occurring at 12 to 45 years old. The sad thing is that women barely notice it until they try to get pregnant but could not. This is because PCOS delays pregnancy, increase risk of miscarriages, and when pregnant, gives way to more unbearable complications.
