Making Your Own Fertility Blend For Men & Women
The use of herbal supplements to combat infertility issues is becoming a more popular choice for couples. However, some herbs prove to be limited and quite difficult to find, if not expensive.
Herbal preparations are made from roots, barks, flowers and fruits. Fortunately, there are synthesized forms that come in teas, capsules or tablets. These are great and convenient to take, but for those who choose a more natural, organic way of taking these herbal fertility supplements, it’s as easy as 1-2-3.
Know which fertility herbs & supplements to take
The first thing you have to consider when making your own fertility blend is to know which kinds of food you should take. Foods that meet your daily nutritional and caloric needs, those that help boost and strengthen the function of the reproductive organs, those that help balance hormones and those that improve circulation to the uterus should be included.
A fertility blend for women of alkaline foods helps regulate the correct ph balance in women. Acidic foods such as dairy products, citrus fruits, meat and grain promote acidity in the female reproductive organs and this can be a hostile environment for the sperm. However, certain acidic foods can be eaten to increase fertility due to their vitamin and mineral content, but this should be done only during the second half of the menstrual cycle. When taken before ovulation, these foods may decrease the mobility of sperms, thereby lessening chances of conception. Foods which are naturally alkalinic include vegetables, non citrus fruits and cereal grasses, along with herbs like valerian root and black cohosh.
Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and brussel sprouts stimulates the more proficient use of estrogen by raising the metabolism of estradiol, a hormone known to increase infertility.
Getting Started
Now that you have an idea of what specific fertility herbs, fruits and vegetables to use, search for those that are grown organically and those that have been subjected to strict quality control and manufacturing processes. Be aware of products that seem unsafe – it is always good to take a look at the company that manufactures them.
The easiest way of putting a number of fertility boosting foods together in a single recipe is by making smoothies, shakes, juices or tea. Some of the most widely used fertility fruits include papaya, avocado, strawberry, cantaloupe, pineapples and blueberries. On the other hand, among the vegetables that increase fertility are asparagus, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, red peppers, Shitake mushrooms and watercress. All these and more can be used to make your very own fertility blend.
Pre-conception Fertility Blend
To prepare, put all herbs in an amber glass container and mix them up gently. Ideally, the herbs should include 4 parts red clover, 3 parts marigold flower, 2 parts each of dandelion leaf and root, 2 parts basil leaf, 1 part horsetail herb and 2 parts rose hips. Keep the container in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.
Measure an ounce of the mixture and allow this to boil in two liters of water for fifteen minutes, then strain. This concoction can be taken up to four cups daily. This infusion is meant to cleanse the body, nourish the reproductive organs and prepare your body for conception.
Strengthening the Reproductive System
This recipe follows the same steps as above in making the infusion or tea. The herbal formula includes 2 parts vitex or chasteberry, 2 parts nettle leaf, 4 parts raspberry leaf and 1 part motherwort herb. When the tea is ready, honey can be added to sweeten it. The ingredients used in this infusion contain properties which help regulate the hormones associated with reproduction.

This herbal remedy should be taken as soon as your menses subside until the 14th day of your cycle.
Stimulating the Luteal Phase
This herbal fertility supplements formula can assist those with luteal phase defect by stimulating the production of progesterone. This hormone is vital in lengthening the time it takes for conception to occur as well as in maintaining pregnancy. To make this tea, the recipe uses 4 parts vitex or chasteberry, 1 part cramp bark, 3 parts skull herb, 1 part panax ginseng root, 1 part rosemary herb, and 1 part sarsaparilla root. This tea should be taken from the 15th day of your cycle up to your menses. It is important not to take any herbal blend when menstruating.
Fertility Smoothies and Juices
A good blend of essential fruits and vegetables make a delicious and satisfying fertility smoothie. Most fruits and vegetables are naturally rich in antioxidants and micronutrients which are important to establish fertility blends for men and women.
You can use any of the above mentioned fruits in order to make your smoothie. Cut them up in pieces enough to fit your blender, add milk or ice then blend away. The goor thing about smoothies is that they’re so easy to make and you can have free reign over which fruits should be included. Fruit shakes and juices should be taken immediately after preparation in order to optimize its benefits. After 20 minutes, the nutrients in your smoothie will begin to oxidize and you may lose all the power of the live enzymes. For creamier texture, yogurt may be added. If you find the mixture too thick for your liking, you can use freshly squeezed juice or water to make it thinner. Although fruits are naturally sweet enough, adding a little honey or maple syrup help sweeten the smoothie. You can also add cinnamon, wheat, almond or vanilla to enhance the flavour.
While smoothies commonly use fruits, juicing is more commonly used for vegetables. Vegetables should be washed carefully beforehand in order to remove any harmful microorganisms especially if they are organically grown. Use a juicer that produces the more juice than leftover vegetable material and make sure it does not overheat or else this may damage the nutrients contained in the vegetables. You can use a variety of vegetables of your choice – as long as you use those that help boost up fertility.
Fertility blends are a natural and inexpensive way of increasing your chances of conceiving. You can make them in the comfort of your own home and take them anytime, anywhere.
