Common Pregnancy Complications

One of the most beautiful things that a woman can go through is having a child. But sometimes you cannot take away the fact that there are certain risks involved in pregnancy. There are common complications that you need to know. They can threaten not only your physical health but also the baby’s. In order for you to avoid the consequences that you might experience you would need to know the most common complications that you need to watch out for.

Usually these develop from existing conditions that the mother might have already even before getting pregnant such as diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, high blood pressure and other infections.

High or Low Amniotic Fluid Level

The amniotic fluid is an essential part of the womb and it helps in the development of the fetus. If you have a level that is too low, the growth of the fetus will be affected and can lead to birth defects. Having a high level of this fluid could cause increased pressure in the fetus that could cause you to deliver pre term.

Gestational Diabetes

Blood sugar levels during pregnancy may vary from what you had before you got pregnant. This can be caused by a sudden shift in your eating habits. There are a high percentage of women who may experience this during pregnancy and it is important to be aware of the symptoms in order to avoid fetal death and birth defects. You should watch out for this during the second trimester of your pregnancy which is the common time that it develops.

RH Factor

This is a condition wherein couples have opposite RH and one may have a positive RH while the other one may have a negative RH.  This can result in a difficult pregnancy and it can also have an effect in the physical development of the child such as anemia and even miscarriage.

Seeking the help of your doctor will play an important role in making sure that you avoid these complications. It’s important to let them know if you have a pre-existing condition that might harm the baby. You can also choose to get tested in case haven’t had any tests done yet. Your responsibility as a parent starts with every decision you make that leads to the pregnancy. Make sure that you make the right ones for the benefit of your child.
